Armen Gevorkiants' works capture tht frugal remains of what is left when all is lost - a soiled bag with a few precious objects, a broken perfume bottle with the memory of the lost scent of a familiar land or of a loved one, a walnut - sole source of food on forced marches and deportations. Thus he depicts the predicament of all refugees, forced to flee their homes and wander in strange lands.

A broken wheel, a suitcase and a shell speak of distant shores. Gevorkiants' work is laconic, its hues dark and somber, evoking a deep poignancy of the sense of loss. There is a strange stillness and beauty in the fractured world reconstituted with their remnants into a mysterious reminder of a wasteland and a forbidden past. The empty spaces, now dark and circled by the sacred snail, perhaps, finally reveal wisdom about our fragility and the essence that remains when the material world is destroyed.
